Shih-tzu Portrait

Yay! Another dog portrait. A shih-tzu this time. :) Instead of a step-by-step of how I painted this one, I thought I'd show what I worked from. Sometimes it's a random snapshot a person had lying around. With pets especially, as long as the eyes aren't too over exposed, I can often work with it.

What do you think? I hear there are lots of shih-tzu-loving people out there. Should I print the new painting onto cards to sell in my Etsy shop? I think I may need to start painting other animals too. What animals would you like to see painted and printed onto cards? Maybe I should take a stab at something different!

  3. I will definitely buy some cards if you make them! Of course, I'm a bit prejudice since the portrait is of Toby, our beloved Shih-tzu. Thank you Susan for blessing me with the opportunity to give such a wonderful gift to my husband for his upcoming birthday.

    1. Good idea Aloquin! I've done a number of original ACEO paintings and I haven't thought of doing prints yet. Maybe I need to really consider it. :)

    1. Thank you. Mechelle. It definitely took a while to get used to how they work. It makes it so that I can't use oil paints though...those take way too long to dry. :)

    1. Thanks, for pointing that out, Sue! I wanted to show folks that you don't have to have a professional photo to still end up with a good portrait. Of course, a good clear photo is always best! :)
